WELCOME TO PLUM!
Let me be the first to welcome the members of Trinity Lutheran Church to the PLUM Cooperative ministry. Good to have 'yinz guys' aboard. Hope this works out well for all. God Bless!
98 YEARS YOUNG!!
On October 19th SAL will be celebrating our 98th Anniversary! Not bad longevity-wise for a church as small as ours. We are already making plans for the big 100th. Happy Birthday to SAL! Very Happy
Genni Recovers!
Genni Long, our organist/choir director, recently had carpal tunnel surgery. As a result, the choir has been put on hiatus for a few weeks. Thanks to Jim Kramer for filling in! Get well soon, Gen! Smile
The Economy and the Holiday Season
The news is terrible on the economic front, isn't it? Banks failing or merging, unemployment growing, inflation, recession, HELP! Do you plan to change how you approach the holidays ahead? Today on the news I heard something about ANOTHER stimulus program. That would be nice, but where is that money coming from??
YER STILLERS THIS YEAR!?!
Facing the toughest schedule in the NFL this year, how do you think the Steelers will end up at the end of the season? As I post this, they are currently 4-1 and in the midst of their bye week. The Bungles  Very Happy are next and then the going gets tough! Let's see what happens!
Changes In Store!!
As that Steeler song states, "HERE WE GO!!" As of the date of this post, Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Oliver has joined PLUM for the 1 year experimental trial period, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the  Allentown section of Pittsburgh is voting this week. It appears that the PLUM Cooperative Ministry may be a model that truly offers an answer to the problems faced by small congregations. I would appreciate the views, either pro or con, of those that read this. Thanks!

Where's the ELLC Folks??
I was hoping to hear or see some participation from the folks from ELLC on this forum. If nothing else, at least register (it's free) and let me know you at least looked at it.
Sunday School?
SALS' Sunday School continues to ebb, as there were only 6 kids attending at the close of classes for the summer in May. Just another area where the parents need to kick in and get their kids a Christian education. Yes, there are events and circumstances that may limit attendance sometimes, but this is all-out abandonment!! Action of some sort needs to be taken before Sunday School disappears entirely.
Has PLUM Become a Possible Answer to Congregation Loss??
The PLUM Cooperative Ministry is getting much attention as the bugs continue to be worked out and it becomes an actual working model. Can it be viewed as a possible solution to the church-wide problems of small-congregation loss?? Are there any other solutions??
